Nia, an abbreviation for Neuro-muscular Integrative Action, is an expressive holistic movement practice anchored in body-centered awareness and based on the intelligent design of the body. It addresses your whole being to achieve physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being and vitality.
It draws on the chemistry of nine movement forms or energy personalities: Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, Jazz, Modern Dance, Duncan Dance, Yoga, the Alexander Technique, and the work of Moshe Feldenkrais®. This unique blend allows the body to move in a fun, diverse and free ways that bring healing, health, and vitality to all aspects of you. Nia is non-impact, practiced barefoot, on a soul-stirring variety of music. Each class includes conscious movement direction, play, and body awareness.
